Concrete Kitchen: Homesense Essentials Guaranteed To Get You Cooking

We don’t know about you guys, but here at GAFF HQ, we have made a commitment to ourselves to spend a little more time in the kitchen this month. The days are short and cold, we’re up to here in takeaways and meals out after the festive season and we are so in need of connecting with ourselves, our homes and the proper food that’ll nourish us through the remainder of winter.

Naturally, we need a few essentials to get us inspired visually, spiritually and epicurean-ly and thankfully Homesense has an endless offering of bang-on-trend, affordable and stylish kitchen and tableware pieces that are guaranteed to help you get cooking. Plus, they have things that you may be surprised and delighted to find in store, too. Let’s get cooking.

Keep It Concrete

Concrete elements in the home are massive this year, and Homesense has tons of pieces, big and small, that’ll help you bring your kitchen up to speed on the trend. We love this side table, perfect for a kitchen shelf, for storage and display or as a small coffee table if your kitchen has a seating area.

If you’re looking for a more affordable and subtle way to incorporate the concrete trend, look to these cement trays for just €8 and this Aztec-style concrete mug from €6. We love this trend because no matter what style kitchen you have, one of these items will blend in seamlessly. This is one of our favourite home interiors styles of 2019.

All The Essentials

OK, after that trend hit we are taking it right back to basics. A fresh set of cutlery and tea towels are the small pleasure in life that pay dividends. These are items that we use and look at every day, so it’s important to keep them fresh and make sure they inspire as well as do their practical jobs. We are all about cold metallics this year (silvers, stainless steels) so this 16-piece cutlery set, €28 fits the bill perfectly. Check out the detail – very luxe.

These tea towels, €3.50, are top of our list as it’s definitely time to get rid of the ratty ones we’ve been using for the last year.

Ready, Steady, Cook

We came across so many great deals on top quality pots, pans, dishes, woks and crockery in store. Here are just two of the pieces we had to snap up to help our kitchen’s game this January.

Set The Scene

Whether you’re a Masterchef or amateur in the kitchen, a killer table setting can help enhance (or distract) from a meal, so some new table statement pieces are key for every home this January. We have our eyes on the icy blue and mint green hues that speak spring freshness and new beginnings to us. Look to these wine glasses and serving dishes that’ll pack a punch when styled with some simple greenery in a glass vase and folded white linen napkins and a table runner. The spots on the glasses and concentric circle on the serving bowls are the little details that make these pieces special.

The Perfect Cuppa

Homesense has the perfect brew accessories in store this January, too. Treat yourself to a new teapot (for all that green tea and lemon-infused hot water you’ll be drinking) and this tea caddy to ensure every time you make yourself a mug it’s as Instagrammable as can be. Top Tip – check out James Kavanagh’s tea-torial to master the art at home.

The Added Extras

Remember we told you we had a few Homesense surprises up our sleeve? Well, here you go. We found a selection of pasta and oils in bottles and packaging that are just too pretty to use. These are the perfect items to use as display or show pieces on your kitchen shelves, tables, in mason jars – you name it.

Bloom and Grow

What would a fresh start to January and a whole new year be without some greenery in our lives? The inside of Homesense is like a garden right now, with faux greenery and flower options for absolutely every taste and interior style. We couldn’t resist a few bunches for our kitchen table. These start from as little as €2 each.
