New Year Inspo: Inside Dublin’s Most Beautiful New Space The Mayson – GAFF Interiors

New Year Inspo: Inside Dublin’s Most Beautiful New Space The Mayson

GAFFers, right now we’re giving you some New Year, New Interior Inspo vibes via The Mayson. We are so over all of the fuzzy, furry festive aesthetics that we’ve been looking at since Haloween. Right now we need New Year ideas and freshness, and this new space has that in spades.

Neon delight: We love this signage at the Mayson foyer

From the neon sign that greets you on arrival (seen here) to the incredible rooftop view, this hotel, bar, restaurant, cafe gym, and event space is one of the most exciting recent additions to Dublin’s skyline.

Design Details

Ok, enough faffing, let’s get down to what really inspired us visually about this space. Firstly, we were blown away by the bathroom. A blue and orange washroom is rarely executed well, but the team here has made this loo goals. How beautiful is that tile work? We love the clashing navy and monochrome effect, and the orange basin and gold detailing sets it all off. We might just have to replicate this look at home …

Bold Lighting

The Press Up team have never shied away statement lighting fixture in their spaces, and The Mayson is no exception. From the oversized block pendants in the foyer to the art-deco inspired lamps in the rooftop restaurant, Ryleigh’s, we’re just about ready to swap out our rattan lampshades for something a little more retro thanks to this inspiration.

Mad Men Moments

The whole building has a retro, 60s vibe to it in so many ways. From the hallway’s mirrored ceiling to its checkered black and white carpet, we expected Don Draper to sidle up to us with an Old Fashioned at any moment.

Print Perfect

We love and admire how much Irish artwork adorns the walls here. This building was a former warehouse and workman’s pub, left empty for years before it was refurbished to the stunning space it is today. We love how old meets new (exposed brick walls, luxe leather booths), and for us, the thread of Irish artwork that flows throughout is what really brings it all together. Keep your eyes peeled for Jill & Gill‘s work when you visit.

Bedroom Essentials

Yep, we’re designating 2020 as the year of the free-standing bath. Is there anything more luxurious or lust-worthy? The team here has it right with their copper tub – it’s divine and has us on the hunt for our own. And as for the wooden panelled walls? We can’t get enough of this look and, as demonstrated so cleverly by Wioleta Kelly in her house tour, you can get this look on a budget, too.

And there you have it. Our first interior inspo guide and tour for a whole new year. Don’t forget you can visit the Mayson hotel, it’s Bottle Boy Pub, Ryleigh’s restaurant, Power gym, Dime coffee shop, Green Dolphin barbershop and Timberyard event space at the IFSC. Simply head on over to their website or Instagram to plan your visit – we know you’ll get as much design inspo here as we did.
