You know that sense of familiarity when you browse in cutesy interiors shops as well as online stores and everything looks like something you’ve seen before? Well, that’s because most of it is. Unless you’re shopping directly from a brand who stock only their own stuff, there seems to be a few key designers or brands (depending on who’s nailing the current trends) who will sell their offering – wholesale – to all of the shops you fall in love with. Not all stores will stock the same stuff – some will source from more obscure places and travel far and wide to get their hands on something that you won’t find everywhere – but they each become a curation of other similar brands. It’s no bad thing.
Two brands we’ve recently discovered that we stumbled upon in London – in a shop called HAYGEN – are Madam Stoltz and Raine and Humble; these are two to look out for whenever you happen upon a boutique interiors store. The first is a Danish brand and, unsurprisingly, it’s all very cosy and minimal and practical. These round velvet cushions are so beautiful and we want to buy them in every colour and stack them high.
Naturally, we did a search online to see where we could get our hands on the same brand in Ireland and turns out Lamb Design have a selection of their stuff (as well as a lot of other absolutely beautiful bits and bobs that will drain our bank accounts entirely). You can also shop online with Unbound and with HAYGEN (on Camden Passage in London’s Angel) but you will be shopping in pounds and then having to pay for international delivery too, so that’s worth bearing in mind.
Raine and Humble is another ride of a brand that found its beginnings in Melbourne Australia. Similar to Madam Stoltz but less feminine in design, they too are all about the soft furnishings.
As soft furnishings are the easiest and most affordable way to transform your living space as quickly as your mood changes (or your bank balance allows you), we get very excited when we find goodies such as these. And because we’re nice, we like to share!
We’re still on the lookout for local sellers of Raine and Humble but if you really want to get your hands on their stuff, try HAYGEN or the R&H global online shopping site for now.
