Rugs are the perfect way to add instant warmth and cosiness to your GAFF. They really don’t have to cost too much money and they’re a great way of working in some colour or patterns if you’d prefer to keep your furniture more paired back. Rugs are easier to switch around if you go wild with a pattern one season and grow tired of it the next; changing your couch, however, would be a bit more of an ordeal.
Working with different rugs in one room alone can also help to distinguish between areas, for example, if you have a small living space within your kitchen. Whether it’s a long runner rug to spruce up your hallway or even something as small as a mat to wipe your feet on when you come in from outside, rugs are one of the easiest ways to work in some of your own personality.
Though high-pile shaggy rugs were all the rage last year, there’s a definite shift towards cleaner, low-pie flat rugs, and this is definitely the one guaranteed area of your living space where you’ll be bound to find some patterns. The only difficulty you’ll have is deciding what works for you; will a vintage style Persian rug suit your living room or are you more of a geometric lover at heart?
