Let there be light…
Desk or table lamps can utterly transform a room, giving you the perfect amount of atmosphere for reading a book, catching up on emails or kicking back with a glass (or, erm, bottle) of wine. The thing about lamps, though, is that they can really make a style statement and act as a major focal point for the given room’s aesthetic. I.e. if you go ultra modern, that’s a tone that will really stand out, but if you go super vintage, the same goes. So it’s really something you have to think about, and it’s a really easy way to incorporate a certain vibe into your home. You can also use lamps to mix two – or several – aesthetics together. Just recently we added a vintage green banker’s lamp, complete with original brass base, to our GAFF HQ offices and though our office vibe is somewhat of a pinner’s paradise with lots of nods to the Scandi-cool trend of late, this vintage lamp has perfectly balanced our love for modern and old. Here are 7 distinctive lamps to make a statement with in your GAFF.
This one’s not the real deal, but if you want a certain look with a tight budget, who would really tell the difference? €26.32, Etsy.
If you’re looking for ways to work a little quirk into an otherwise minimal room, or even something chic for the kids’ room, this elephant lamp from Urban Outfitters is just too cute. €40 Urban Outfitters.
For a table lamp that’s more about the bulb than the light given, this M&S beauty is a real treat. Old school apothecary vibes for the win. €135, Marks & Spencer.
If you’re more minimalist at heart, these babies from Made.com are only £29 each and really look the business in situ.
Little Gee. Yes, the name is certainly questionable – hands up who giggles when cooking with Indian Ghee? Us too – but the light is too pretty not to find a home for somewhere in your GAFF. Loaf.com £75.
Also from Loaf, this lamp combines our love for marble with our love for black. We need. £125.
Haven’t quite gotten the copper trend out of your system yet? This cutie is from Harvey Norman, a store we wouldn’t normally think of going to for chic interiors but what fools we’ve been proven to be. €69.90
Lastly, you can always trust Ikea to give you a really affordable option that doesn’t compromise on style. This one’s a timeless favourite of ours; it doesn’t really align with one specific trend so you’re not going to wind up bored with it come Christmas. What’s more, we have one at GAFF HQ and the light it gives off is incredibly warm and cosy. €30. Bargain town!
Love the M&S one, very quirky!
