Before you bemoan the existence of Christmas content when it’s not even mid-November, let’s just remind you of a little sh*t show that happened across the pond yesterday when America elected the most terrifying candidate as leader of the free world. So, yeah, we’re in need of some cheering up, and Christmas just about does the job.
Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be bringing you all sorts of festive GAFF inspo, from classic decorating to how to make kitsch work (it can, we promise!), not to mention all the incredible GAFF-inspired gifting ideas we’ve come across.
First, though, we’re considering what you need to get your hands on now before everyone else decides to get their Christmas on. Also, what’s worth remembering is that December itself is a hugely expensive month in terms of all that present buying and partying, and if you want to cut out the cost of decorating from your budget plans, it’s good to start in dribs and drabs now, stock-piling ’til the time comes when you get to go nuts (we. cannot. wait).
Here are some things we’ve got our eyes on this year, with apartment living in mind…
If space is tight, and a big fat Christmas tree is out of the question, all is not lost. There are plenty of Christmas tree alternatives.
If minimalism is your jam, consider a free standing twig tree – this one comes pre-lit so you don’t need to bother investing in lights.
Can’t quite fit a tree? Well, you could always fit the illusion of a tree – or several – with this adhesive wall decal that would turn your room into a winter wonderland. It’s dramatic, we know, but if you keep the rest of your decor relatively pared back, this could be really magical, especially for the wall near your dinner table.
Garlands are also a nifty option, giving your GAFF added greenery, somewhere to gussy up with lots of twinkling lights. If you’ve got enough of this kind of thing going on, you might not even miss the tree at all!
Your luxurious option…
Here’s your cheap and cheerful option from Home Store & More with berries and acorns…
You also have the option of getting your hands on any old collection of twigs and wrapping lights around them for a festive effect. This is one we’d keep going all year around. Spotted on Pinterest.
Lastly, you might not have space for one massive tree, but you will find plenty of homes for several of these minis; the ultimate in Nordic-inspired Christmas decor.
