Calling all vintage rug lovers…
Geometric, minimalist and high-pile (shaggy) rugs have had their moment and now, there’s a return to vintage-style, low-pile options with subtle prints. With such a love for art on our walls, why not think about the art under your feet? The thing about the genuine articles – especially when it comes to Persian rugs – is that they cost a small fortune (some over €1000 at least), so finding affordable options is no mean feat. Thankfully, high street brands are starting to catch on, offering printed rugs that look like they might have been uncovered from a Downton Abbey attic without the need to sell your kidneys just to be able to afford it. We’ve done our best to find 11 gorgeous options here that cost less than €200. Some are under €50. Though you might fall for a pattern on first look, be sure to double check the measurements of the space you’re considering it for. In living rooms, large rugs are very much on trend, so don’t be overly concerned with the perfect rectangle on which your coffee table can live; more often, we are seeing rugs that cover larger areas, hiding under sofas and armchairs too. Measurements are key however for a hallway runner or under the dining table. You need to decide if you want all of your dining chairs to fit onto the rug or just cover the table legs themselves. These are all options that can be bought online, so if – like us – you are currently in your PJs but planning a little decor switcharoo, there’s almost no effort involved.
