To help get you on your way to gorgeous greenery, we’ve picked out the top 5 indoor plants that’ll give your interiors that extra bit of je ne sais quoi, no matter what your living space is like. Green fingers at the ready.
Cool Rooms With Sunlight
If you’ve got a room that is kept slightly cooler than the rest of the house with a source of natural light, (we’re thinking bathroom or hallway), then this household favourite is the one for you. The Geranium has a stunning colour and a gorgeous smell (lemons and roses). These little guys cost €6.90.
How low maintenance are you? The Bromeliad is a great one for those of us who will definitely forget to water a plant. It’s low maintenance, has that gorgeous rich red flower, and it loves friends – this one grows best when placed in a light room next to other plants. It’ll set you back about €9.90.
Darker Nooks & Crannies
The Fatsia Japonica is a dark room’s best friend. Their lime green leaves add a touch of vibrancy to a darker space and they don’t need direct sunlight to be healthy, so they’re a perfect addition to a kitchen, living room or bedroom. They cost about €4.
Light & Bright
If you have a conservatory or a room with a lot of windows and natural light the stunning Mandevilla is for you. Its tropical vines with brightly coloured trumpet-shaped flowers remind us of a fairytale kind of flower. Here’s the kicker, though – she’s going to need a lot of love, plenty of watering – but trust us, it’s worth it. This beauty only costs €9.50.
Another great indoor plant for a conservatory is this eye-catching vibrant orange coloured fruit plant, the Citrus Calamondin. Hallelujah! It doesn’t need regular watering and will bear fruit almost all year round. Exotic vibes for €17.
